A Circle of Healing in Hilton Head
From September 19–23, 2024, five widows gathered in Hilton Head, South Carolina, for our second annual retreat. We stayed in another beautiful home—this time nestled in Sea Pines—with its own pool and plenty of space for rest, connection, and laughter.
The retreat began with bikes waiting for us to ride through Sea Pines. We pedaled to the beach, spent time soaking up the sun, and let the ocean breeze remind us what it feels like to truly exhale. For many, these simple moments of riding and relaxing by the shore became some of the most cherished memories.

A Day at Parris Island
Saturday took us on a meaningful journey to Parris Island, where we visited the Marine Corps Museum. Two widows from last year’s Orlando retreat joined us for the day, making the visit even more special. Being in that space together—surrounded by history, service, and sacrifice—was deeply moving. We followed the museum visit with a lovely lunch, sharing stories and strengthening bonds.
That evening, the house came alive with our famous games night—a tradition now! Laughter echoed through the walls as cards were shuffled, dice rolled, and stories flowed.

Music, Dancing, and Friendship
Sunday carried us into town where we enjoyed an evening of blues music. We danced, sang along, and simply enjoyed being with friends—old and new. One widow even traveled all the way from Texas to join us, a beautiful reminder that this circle of support reaches far and wide.

More Than Just a Weekend
What made Hilton Head special wasn’t just the house, the pool, or the beach—it was the connections. For some, it was the joy of reuniting with friends from last year’s retreat. For others, it was the courage of traveling across the country to be with women who “get it.” For all of us, it was another step toward healing, together.
✨ What started as one retreat in Orlando has grown into a tradition—proof that widows can come together, create joy, and find hope again.
