WE BELIEVE IN CHANGE
On this unforgettable day in history, the veterans, particularly those stationed at Camp Lejeune Marine Base in North Carolina, continue their relentless battle. They’ve spent years pushing the government to acknowledge their responsibility for the contaminated water at the base.
Attorneys, including Ed Bell, passionately fought for their clients but hit a roadblock. The government had set a 10-year statute of limitations, denying responsibility if illness didn’t manifest within that timeframe. Ed Bell realized the only way to help affected veterans was to pass a bill, thus beginning the quest for the Camp Lejeune Justice Act. Initially, political support for this cause was scarce.
When President Biden assumed office, his commitment to righting military wrongs became personal. He believed his son’s cancer was linked to military service. Jon Stewart joined the fight to ensure no doubts remained regarding political support.
